
Vertical access (stairs) and elevator are place opposite one another to provide code required separation. The other major area Classrooms is adjacent and will have some activity in the exhibition space.
The dining area will be adjacent to the exhibition area and kitchen for possible use for receptions and parties. storage will be provided in this space for chairs and folding tables and a podium for speakers/lecturers. A mobile light cart will provide a portable means of highlighting and displaying the interior surfaces which will have homasote or a cork wall covering. All surfaces will be natural with no paint. The floors will be stained concrete.
The kitchen area is really a break room which will warm and distribute food and is not meant to house institutional kitchen fixtures for food preparation. Utility functions and building security will be housed in a protected area around the back. A rear access for students will be provided and have a well lighted and protected sallyport-type area for bicycles. Students amy enter the upper floors in this area.
The lobby in the front of the building will have a reception area and direct access to the upper level by elevator and/stairs. Toilets in this area will be behind a screen decorative wall. This area will be sheltered and have easy access in two directions with remote key less entry with thumb recognition for after hours entry by students
