The Kingsley Plantation


Slave Quarters-4 x7 meters Individual Houses made of the Shells and sand of Jacksonville Area. Fort Georgia Island was the home of Mr. Kingsley (white) and his wife Anna Madgigine Jai (black) from Senegal, Africa. She was the leader of about 200 slaves.
It is believed that the inhabitants of these building buried their belongings vertically below the floors. This was because of a transient occupants with some being of different family origins thrown together.
