Tom, What seperates gallery and mechanical room? Why are they adjacent? Do you need radiant floors and Trombe wall, or are you trying to shield artwork from direct light in the gallery and thus the use of the Trombe wall? Do the chilled beams supplement the radiant floor or are they used in different zones?
Ann: The Seperation between the Exhibition space and the mechanical room is a masonry wall 1 hour wall as required to have seperated uses. The Trombe wall will provide diffuse lighting and will provide heat gain in winter. It was also my intension here to suppliment that part of the gallery room which does not have a skylite ceilng with chilled beam cooling in summer. The Trombe wall will be drained in summer to provide diffused light for exhibits. To some extent the use of two systems is redundent it will provide more alternatives and be controlled by an energy management system to take full advantage fo the solar. What I have not shown in the section is the vertical "fins" which provide supplimental electrical generation on the North side .
