Design Goals

The Primary Design Goals for the New Long Distance Design Center:

The Site:
-To provide an barrier to traffic and the main artery I-90 and MBTA
- To provide a logical infill
- to open the street and encorage an area of interst

The Program:
- to provide a display and create visual interest with a well recognized form to serve as a becon for the community
-To provide a living and working environment in close proximity to the main B.A.C
-to provide a pleasant living environment for transient students staying at the center.

-exhibit space/connection to the community with a ecologically design building.

1) Provide A Sense of Community which relates to the Main B.A.C. Campus and relates to the history and Community of Back Bay
2) To Provide an activity Center with other institutions in the neighborhood in indoor and outdoor spaces
3) Provide a transparency which is seen by the community and invites display and invites others to observe the functions of the B.A.C.

Secondary Goals:

1) Sustainable - Green design which uses a self sufficient strategy for all educational buildings in the area
2) Accessibility
3) Transition for visitor and students alike from the highway to the commercial area to the south.



" A center which must serve as a beacon and be recognized for its location to the main B.A.C. Campus and be identified as a new icon for the program which will serve the world.
